We are Project Neutral.
Transitioning to carbon neutrality.
One neighbourhood at a time.
Working at the juncture of homeowners, neighbourhoods, municipalities and the energy sector, Project Neutral (a project on Tides Canada's shared platform) is supporting local and national greenhouse gas reduction efforts. By allowing households to benchmark and compare their carbon footprint to other households at the neighbourhood and city-level, and to municipal reduction targets, Project Neutral (PN) is creating a culture of awareness around greenhouse gas emissions and connecting individuals to actions.
Since 2010, more than 2,500 households have used PN’s tools to measure their carbon footprint, find out how they compare to their neighbours and explore actions that reduce energy use and carbon emissions. After 3 years, 80% of households had reduced their carbon footprint by 20% - or 5 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per household.
That's equivalent to taking one car off the road for a year for each participating household.
Imagine if everyone household in every neighbourhood starting working together. We call that the power of neighbourhoods. Join us. Make a difference. One household, one neighbourhood at a time.
